Bashir Garba Illo is the founder of the Bashir Garba Illo Foundation.
He is a philanthropist, humanitarian and social development advocate, deeply committed to driving meaningful and sustainable change through empowerment, innovation, and community development.
He is a visionary leader, whose life’s work is guided by a strong belief that true progress begins when individuals in the community are equipped with the right opportunities, skills, and support systems to unlock their full potentials.
He has a strong and diverse academic background built on his passion for knowledge, development, and innovation.
Bashir Illo holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious University of Chichester in the United Kingdom and also holds a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from the University of Greenwich, Chatham, Kent, London, UK. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Chemistry from the prestigious Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
His professional certifications and technical exposures include; a professional training in Export Trade Finance from the American Institute for Extended Studies, as well as a Diploma in Computer Operations.
This multidisciplinary academic and professional foundation has shaped his broad understanding of development, technology, and sustainable growth.
His leadership prowess is rooted in service, empowerment, and a knack for long-term impact activities which he believes should not be temporary or dependent-based, but structured to enable individuals and communities become self-reliant and capable of creating their own opportunities.
The Bashir Garba Illo Foundation was established as a practical expression of this vision to serve as a platform for empowerment, education, digital inclusion, and community development of indigent Nigerians from both rural and urban communities.
Through its programs, the Foundation addresses critical areas such as youth empowerment, skills acquisition, digital economy development, education support, healthcare assistance, and environmental sustainability.
At the heart of his philosophy is a simple but powerful principle: empowerment must lead to independence, and independence must lead to transformation. He strongly believes that when people are given access to knowledge, opportunity, and guidance, they will be capable of reshaping their lives and positively impact their communities.
The foundation in last seven years of its establishment has brought about rapid and transformational developments, building and strengthening of people in the communities, thereby creating pathways for sustainable development across the women, youth, the vulnerable and less privileged of society.
